At All Guard Pest Control, the termite protection that we favour is Termidor.
These facts are why we recommend it to protect your home in Sydney Australia.
Termidor is applied at very low rates. Typically, the active ingredient (fipronil)
is just 0.06% of the solution, a concentration much lower than that of older
liquids and less than most insecticides
Keep in mind, too, that since 1995, fipronil has been used around the world
for flea and tick control on household pets and on agricultural crops to protect
food supplies. And Termidor has virtually no odour, which means you and your
family won't notice a thing. No better choice for termite defence.
Termidor is the only termite defence that combines a unique mode of action, a
long residual, and the ability to manage colonies faster than a baiting system.
Termidor unique advantages:
Australia’s #1 termite defence with over 100,000 homes treated since 2000.
Kills by ingestion, contact, and the "Transfer Effect," meaning affected insects
help spread Termidor throughout the colony before dying themselves.
Manages colonies up to 6 times faster than bait systems.
Most effective termiticide — over 10 years of test data prove most effective
and fastest at eliminating termite populations.
Responsible, low-dose treatment, with no odour.
Only trained, termite professionals can apply the product.
The Truth About Termites A concern in 7 out of 8 states and territories in Australia
There are about 2000 known species of termites throughout the world. In
Australia., Subterranean Termites, which build underground nests, are a concern
in every state except Tasmania. Subterranean termites are extremely destructive,
because they tunnel their way to wooden structures (like your home), into which
they burrow to obtain food. Termites all share a virtually insatiable appetite
for wood and other cellulose-containing materials. Given enough time, they will
feed on the wood until nothing is left but a shell.
A Caste of Hundreds of Thousands Termites are highly social insects that live in large colonies where populations
can reach more than one million. A colony consists of several structurally
differentiated forms living together as castes (including reproductives,
soldiers, and workers) with different functions in community life.
In the spring, winged reproductives leave the parental nest in swarms to create
a new colony. The swarming lasts less than an hour, so it's very likely you'll
never even see it. The winged reproductives themselves look quite a bit like
flying ants, for which they are often mistaken.
Those "Ants" Might be Termites Both ants and termites have two pairs of wings, but ants' wings are different
sizes while the termites' wings are all the same size. Also, ants have narrowed
waists and elbowed antennae while termites have thick waists and short, straight
antennae that resemble strings of beads. Don't be fooled by colour or size. Ants
can vary in size, and winged termites can be brown or black like ants.
Look for Signs You're more likely to discover you have a termite problem by discovering the
evidence they leave behind rather than the actual termites themselves. If you
encounter any of these telltale signs, there's a good chance termites are busy
snacking on your home:
Piles of small, delicate wings shed by reproductives
Small piles of sawdust
Mud tubes built by termites for aboveground travel
Damaged or hollow sounding wood
Pinholes in drywall or wallpaper
Of course, it's quite possible to have a hidden termite problem even if you
never notice any of these signs. The best way to be sure is to contact a
licensed pest control professional to conduct a complete inspection of your
home. A Termite Professional will be able to determine if you have termites and
recommend the best course of action for eliminating them quickly and completely.
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? Coptotermes Subterranean termites are one of several termite species that
threaten homes and other structures in NSW and Sydney areas. Nasutitermes and
Schedorhintermes are next in line for destroying the most property in Sydney
Australia
Drywood termites threaten homes in Northern Areas of Australia.
What is Termidor? Termidor is Australia's #1 termite defence. No other termite defence system of
any type has ever achieved such a high level of efficacy.
What types of termites does Termidor control? Termidor controls Subterranean Termites, Eastern Subterranean Termites,
Nasutitermes Subterranean Termites and the extremely destructive Coptotermes
Subterranean Termites. Through the years, other products have promised
homeowners protection from termites.
How can homeowners be sure that Termidor works? Termidor is made from a revolutionary new non-repellent or "undetectable"
chemical technology. In numerous trials across Australia and around the world,
Termidor has consistently proven itself to be the most effective and fastest at
completely eliminating termite populations. A level of efficacy that no other
termite control system of any type has ever achieved. And, it is proving to be
equally effective in keeping termites from coming back. Ongoing field trials by
the CSRIO show no signs of reinfestation at all study sites more than ten years
after treatment with Termidor, results no other termite defence product can
match.
Where can I buy Termidor? Termidor cannot be directly purchased or applied by homeowners. Only licensed
pest control professionals are authorized to purchase and apply Termidor.
How does a pest control professional apply Termidor to my home? A Termite Professional will apply a liquid dilution of Termidor along the
foundation walls of your home to create a continuous treatment zone. The
application method is called "trenching and rodding," and may sometimes require
drilling holes into the concrete foundation of your home for maximum protection.
All Guard Pest Control may also treat the interior of your home, depending on
the extent of the termite infestation and damage.
How fast will Termidor work? Termidor has consistently shown to provide 100% control of subterranean termites
up to six times faster than termite bait/monitoring systems.
What makes Termidor different from other termite control options, such as bait
systems? Termidor utilizes a unique action known as the "Transfer Effect" to effectively
eliminate termite populations up to six times faster than bait systems. And,
unlike older liquids, Termidor does not repel termites, termites can't smell,
see or feel the insecticide, so they crawl freely through treated areas. When a
termite eats or even comes in contact with the insecticide, it unknowingly
transfers Termidor back to the colony on its body. Every termite it contacts
will transfer Termidor to other termites. It is the most effective and fastest
at completely eliminating termite populations up to six times faster than bait/
monitoring systems. Baits can take from many months to several years to control
a colony. That's because many bait systems work by recruitment, in which
termites must first discover a bait station and then recruit sufficient colony
members to it as well. Only then is the termite control product added to the
station. Plus, there's no guarantee termites heading for or already in your home
will find the bait stations at all. Termidor starts working immediately.
What will a Termidor treatment cost? The cost of a Termidor treatment varies and largely depends on your particular
situation and the treatment plan you and your pest control company agree upon.
In the long run, a Termidor treatment plan generally will cost less than a
termite bait system and will provide more effective, longer lasting control.
Is it environmentally responsible? Termidor is one of the most thoroughly reviewed termite control products in
history. Termidor is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency and can
only be applied by a pest control professional who has been trained in correct
application methods. Termidor is incredibly effective even at low application
rates.
It bonds to the soil in which it is applied, so homeowners need not worry about
soil movement. In addition, Termidor's active ingredient, fipronil, is used
extensively on food crops around the world and as the leading product for flea
and tick control on dogs and cats since 1995. Our advice? Choose Termidor!
